When we first stepped onto this salt crust that morning it was dry, as we continued to photograph the lake shifted slowly covering the salt with a skiff of water.  The great Salt Lake is a shallow body of water, wind can move the surface area where the wind blows. When the day is calm the lake will return to its natural space.  We were there on a calm day and the water slowly moved back into its natural location.
